According to Yonhap News Agency, KB Kookmin Bank, the largest banking institution in South Korea, plans to launch a blockchain-based cross-border corporate payment service next month on JPMorgan Chase’s blockchain platform Kinexys.
The move marks the formal embrace of blockchain technology for practical commercial use by South Korea’s traditional financial giants. Kinexys is JPMorgan’s recently launched blockchain payment infrastructure designed to provide enterprise clients with faster and lower-cost cross-border fund transfer services.
This partnership reflects the global financial industry’s accelerating transition from proof-of-concept to large-scale commercial deployment in blockchain applications, as traditional banking heavyweights join forces with technology platforms to reshape the international payments landscape.
