According to Bloomberg Apple plans a major upgrade to the Wallet app in the upcoming iOS 27 allowing users to create and edit their own passes directly within the app.

Previously Wallet passes were primarily provided by merchants and institutions with users only able to add them passively. iOS 27 will change this model enabling users to create custom passes for membership cards event tickets transit cards and other credentials.
Technical Background
Apple already introduced three enhancements for iPhone with iOS 26.5 laying the technical groundwork for Wallet customization. The new pass creation tools are expected to use a simplified template-based design to lower the barrier for users.

This feature will position Apple Wallet as a more powerful digital credentials management platform competing directly with third-party pass applications.
