Putin Vows Retaliation After Accusing Ukraine of Hitting Student Dormitory
Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed retaliation against Ukraine on Thursday, accusing Kyiv of striking a student dormitory in a Moscow-occupied area of eastern Ukraine.
Ukraine acknowledged carrying out the strike but stated that its intended target was Russia’s elite “Rubicon” drone military unit stationed in the area, and the dormitory was not the intended target.
The incident once again highlights the ongoing threat to civilian infrastructure in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Putin’s retaliation threat could signal a new round of military escalation, adding further uncertainty to an already volatile situation.
Since the conflict began, both sides have repeatedly accused each other of attacking civilian facilities. The international community has expressed grave concern over such incidents, calling on all parties to comply with international humanitarian law.
