[Brief] Israeli Air Strike on Gaza City Apartment Block Leaves at Least Five Dead, International Attention on Casualty Toll
Al Jazeera and Reuters report that an Israeli air strike on an apartment block in Gaza City has left at least five people dead, putting civilian-protection issues back at the center of international attention. The strike comes amid continued volatility in the broader Middle East security landscape and underscores urgent international concern over civilian casualty figures and independent verification mechanisms in conflict zones. Opinion is sharply divided on whether the strike constitutes disproportionate use of force under the principle of proportionality.
