Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces recently retook several strategic areas around the Bab el-Mandeb strait from Houthi rebels, with officials confirming this is significant progress in the counteroffensive. Yemeni government forces earlier this week declared the recapture of Mocha near Hodeidah port. Saudi and Middle East have had intensive contacts this week, with all parties expressing close attention to this development.

A Saudi-led multinational coalition spokesperson stated the counteroffensive demonstrates the coalition commitment to the joint regional force. The UN Yemen Special Envoy called on all parties to exercise restraint and push forward the political settlement process.
