Israeli settlers attack European diplomats in the West Bank; multiple diplomatic missions affected
European diplomats were attacked by Israeli settlers in the West Bank on October 17 during a field visit, according to the BBC, The Guardian and The New York Times. The incident came a day after a Washington Post photographer was beaten, and has triggered strong protests from several European governments, which are demanding a formal Israeli explanation and warning that escalating settler violence poses a systemic threat to local security, diplomatic access and press freedom. Observers view the episode as a marker of a fresh wave of settler violence.
