Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

European diplomats were attacked by Israeli settlers in the West Bank on October 17 during a field visit, according to the BBC, The Guardian and The New York Times. The incident came a day after a Washington Post photographer was beaten, and has triggered strong protests from several European governments, which are demanding a formal Israeli explanation and warning that escalating settler violence poses a systemic threat to local security, diplomatic access and press freedom. Observers view the episode as a marker of a fresh wave of settler violence.

Al Jazeera reports that Israeli forces operating near the West Bank city of Jenin killed a Palestinian. The incident highlights the ongoing tension of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the West Bank, with the international community expressing concern and calling for restraint.

As international attention focuses on the Iran war, Israeli settler violence in the West Bank has surged sharply, with a 14-year-old Palestinian boy shot dead by settlers. A senior Israeli officer warns settler violence could ignite a Palestinian uprising.
