Report: Executions in North Korea Surged During Pandemic, 153 Sentenced or Executed
Seoul-based NGO TJWG reports at least 153 people were executed or sentenced to death in North Korea between 2020-2024, a sharp increase from the five pre-pandemic years. Consuming K-dramas and K-pop emerged as among the most common capital offences.
