A painting believed to have been plundered by high-ranking Nazi Hermann Goering during World War Two has been found in the home of a Dutch SS leader’s descendants.

The portrait is one of thousands of artworks looted by the Nazis across occupied Europe. The Netherlands has intensified efforts to recover wartime looted art in recent years, with several works already returned to their original owners or their heirs.
