The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched a federal safety investigation into a fatal crash involving a Tesla vehicle that struck a Texas home. According to the Wall Street Journal, investigators will examine whether Tesla’s Autopilot driver-assistance system played a role in the accident.

The investigation will cover the vehicle’s black box data, Autopilot system status, and driver operation records prior to the crash. This marks another in a series of NHTSA inquiries into Tesla’s autonomous driving technologies.
