A former Ethereum Foundation core developer has proposed an ambitious plan to raise one billion dollars for a new independent foundation to lead Ethereum development, responding to an ongoing talent drain and growing disagreements about the network’s direction.
The proposal follows the departure of several senior developers from the Ethereum Foundation. The proposer argues that the existing foundation structure can no longer effectively advance Ethereum’s technical roadmap.
Sources indicate the plan has generated preliminary interest from several crypto investment firms. If successful, this would be the largest foundation fundraising effort in crypto history.
Ethereum currently faces multiple challenges: intensifying competition among Layer 2 scaling solutions, the rise of alternative chains drawing developers away, and internal governance disputes raising community concerns about the network’s future.
