Frontline Ebola response workers warn that cuts to Western foreign aid programs have severely weakened Central Africa’s capacity to combat the latest outbreak.

International medical organizations report that stockpiles of protective gear, diagnostic reagents, and medications at several Ebola treatment centers in the Democratic Republic of Congo have fallen to dangerous levels. Some isolation wards have scaled back operations due to budget constraints.

Response workers point out that the rapid spread of Ebola is directly linked to insufficient early investment in prevention. Without rapid restoration of international funding, the outbreak could expand into more densely populated areas.

The situation has sparked broader concerns about the fragility of global public health governance. Experts are calling for a more stable international epidemic funding mechanism.
