Former Scottish Leader’s Husband Admits $540K Party Fund Embezzlement
Peter Murrell, husband of former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, has admitted to embezzling approximately $540,000 from the Scottish National Party (SNP), according to AP News.
Court documents revealed that Murrell used party funds for personal purchases including coffee machines, luxury fountain pens, and Grand Theft Auto video games. Murrell had previously resigned as SNP chief executive.
The case has raised widespread questions about SNP financial management and dealt a blow to its political reputation. Sturgeon has denied any involvement in the matter.
