The Indonesian regulator declared that platforms allowing users to wager on uncertain outcomes are essentially gambling products. This marks the first time a major Asian country has explicitly banned the platform.

Polymarket is a blockchain-based prediction market where users can bet on outcomes ranging from political elections to economic events. The platform has gained widespread attention in political forecasting, particularly during the 2024 US election when trading volumes surged.
